Welcome to Autism Eastern Cape
Welcome to Autism Eastern Cape
Autism Eastern Cape, previously known as the Eastern Cape Autism Association, was established in 1994 by parents to help and support other parents. Despite limited resources – AEC consists of unpaid volunteers – it exists to give information and support to families living with autism.
Autism Eastern Cape is hoping to build a care centre for adults with autism. Although Autism Eastern Cape has several goals (see Vision) the priority for 2010 is to establish this permanent residential care centre as soon as is possible.
A group of concerned parents living in Port Elizabeth meets at Quest School for Autistic Learners in South End each month to plan this centre. Most of this group have children in their teens.
Anyone connected with adult care centres in other areas is urged to contact Alexis or Karlien (wee contact details on this page) with a view to sharing experiences and working together to build a safe haven for adults with autism.
Our “wish list” is to see this centre become a reality within the next 10 years. Any help – particularly financial – will be appreciated.
Austism Eastern Cape is a registered non-profit organisation and has an NPO number.
